Live one-to-one lessons on Microsoft Teams

One-to-one online singing lessons, built around your voice

Not a course. Not a set of exercises everyone gets. A live hour with me, working on what is actually stopping you, inside the songs you care about.

30 minutes. Normally £50. No hard sell.

How the lesson works

Lessons are taught live on Microsoft Teams, one to one, by me. All you need is a quiet space and a device with a camera.

When you book, you receive an email with your Teams link and everything you need for the session, so there is nothing to work out on the day. You can join from a browser without a Teams account.

Sessions are 60 minutes. Nothing is pre-recorded and nothing is automated. If your voice is tired or you are unwell, we change what we do rather than push through it.

What happens in the hour

No two lessons are identical, because no two singers are. This is the shape most of them take.

First 5 minutes

How you are, how your voice is, what has happened since last time, and what we are working on. If I hear tiredness or strain, the plan changes.

Next 10

Sounds, sirens and patterns chosen for you and for today. I am listening for pressure, break points, tension and whether you are pushing.

Next 10

We isolate the one thing that matters most. I explain it. If that explanation does not land, I explain it a different way, then another, until it does.

Next 20

Into a real song. Your song. I stop at the exact word, tell you what I heard, show you the alternative, you do it, and we put it back in.

Next 10

A longer section, to see whether the change survives in context rather than only in isolation.

Last 5

What we found, what is next, what to practise, and where to look in the recording.

Your lesson folder

You do not have to remember any of it.

After every lesson I send you a link to your own folder. Inside it you will find:

  • The recording of the lesson
  • A written summary of everything we worked on
  • A clear path setting out exactly what to practise before next time

It stays there. You can open it on the bus, the week after, or three months later when something we fixed starts slipping again. Nothing depends on your memory, your notes, or scribbling while you are trying to sing.

What we work on

Whatever is in the way. Usually it is one of these, often it is a combination.

Technique

Breath support, pressure, placement, resonance, registration, the passage between chest and head voice, mouth shape and vowel. The mechanics of the instrument.

Range and power

High notes without strain, belting safely, building strength that lasts rather than force that damages. Usually this is a pressure and anticipation problem, not a range problem.

Confidence and performance

The fear that arrives before the difficult note, the freeze when someone is watching, and how to communicate a song rather than visibly operate a technique.

Pronunciation and diction

English diction for singers whose first language is not English, worked word by word. Also consonants, diphthongs and clarity for any singer whose words are getting lost.

Style and individuality

Finding what you sound like rather than an impression of somebody else. Keeping the texture and character that makes a voice worth listening to.

Repertoire and recording

Songs that suit your voice, harmony work, preparing material for auditions, sessions and performances, and microphone technique for recording at home or in a studio.

Styles: musical theatre, rock, pop, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, funk, gospel and Bollywood.

Professional and project work

If you are preparing for a recording, a film, a tour, or you need English diction for singing in a second language, that is a different kind of job. Read about film, recording and pronunciation coaching

If you are ADHD or autistic

I have ADHD myself. I teach one change at a time, I never blame a student for not understanding an explanation, and the lesson folder means nothing depends on memory. Read how I teach neurodivergent singers
