Everything you need to know about online singing lessons
Absolutely anyone can learn to sing! The idea that you need "natural talent" is a myth. Real tone deafness (amusia) affects less than 4% of people. If you can tell the difference between a fire truck siren and a bird chirping, you can learn to sing. I've taught hundreds of complete beginners who were convinced they "couldn't sing" — and they all improved. Singing is a skill, like driving or cooking. It takes practice, not magic.
Online lessons work via FaceTime, WhatsApp, or Microsoft Teams — whichever you prefer. You book your time slot, I send you the meeting link, and we connect at the scheduled time. I can hear your voice clearly, see your technique, and give you real-time feedback. Many students actually prefer online lessons because they're more convenient — no travel time, and you can warm up in your own space right before the lesson.
Just three things: a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera (phone, tablet, or laptop), and a quiet space where you can sing without worrying about disturbing others. That's it. No special equipment needed. If you're using a phone or tablet, a simple phone stand helps so you don't have to hold it, but it's not essential.
I offer three options: £25 for a 30-minute consultation (perfect for trying it out), £65 for a single 60-minute lesson, or £600 for a block of 10 lessons (saving £200). The consultation includes a vocal assessment and goal discussion with no obligation to continue. All lessons include personalised exercises and a recording of the session for you to practice with.
We'll start with a chat about your goals and any previous singing experience. Then I'll do a brief vocal assessment — listening to your range, tone, and any particular challenges. From there, we'll dive into exercises tailored to your voice and work on a song if you're ready. By the end, you'll have specific techniques to practice and a clear idea of what your voice can do.
Most students notice improvements after just one lesson — better posture, clearer tone, easier high notes. Significant, lasting change typically comes after 4-6 weeks of consistent practice. Think of it like going to the gym: one session helps, but regular training transforms. I give you exercises to practice between lessons so you're improving every day, not just in our sessions together.
I teach all contemporary genres: pop, rock, R&B, soul, gospel, funk, blues, jazz, and musical theatre. Whether you want to belt like Adele, riff like Stevie Wonder, or nail those musical theatre high notes, I can help. The fundamentals of good singing — breath support, vocal health, range extension — apply across all styles. We'll adapt the techniques to whatever music you love.
Currently, I focus on one-to-one lessons because that's where the fastest improvement happens. However, I occasionally run group workshops for specific topics like audition prep or harmony singing. If you're interested in group sessions, get in touch and I can let you know when the next workshop is scheduled.
Life happens. I ask for 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you give me at least 48 hours notice, we can move your lesson to another time with no penalty. Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice may be charged at the full rate, as that time slot can't be filled at short notice. The SimplyBook.me system makes rescheduling easy — just log in and move your booking.
I work with students aged 12 and up. For younger children, the vocal cords are still developing, and intensive vocal training isn't appropriate. If your child is under 12 but passionate about singing, I'd recommend finding a teacher who specialises in young voices. For teenagers and adults, we're good to go — it's never too late to start.
Absolutely! Some of my favourite students are complete beginners. There's something special about helping someone discover their voice for the first time. I have a lot of experience working with nervous beginners who've been told they "can't sing." We'll start from the very basics, move at your pace, and build your confidence step by step. By the end of your first lesson, you'll already sound better than when you started.
Easy! Click any "Book" button on the website, choose your lesson type (consultation, single lesson, or 10-lesson block), select a date and time that works for you, and complete the booking. You'll get an instant confirmation email with your meeting link. The whole process takes less than 2 minutes. If you'd prefer to chat first, use the contact form to send an enquiry.
I'm confident you'll love your lessons, but if you're not completely satisfied with your first lesson, it's free. No questions asked, no awkwardness — just let me know and I'll refund you. For lesson blocks, unused lessons can be refunded pro-rata within 30 days of purchase. My goal is to help you sing better, not to lock you into something that isn't working for you.
Definitely. I've helped countless students prepare for West End auditions, drama school entry, talent shows, and recording sessions. We'll work on your audition songs, vocal technique, performance presence, and managing nerves. I know what casting directors are looking for and can help you present your best self. Many of my students have landed roles in major productions after working with me.
I work with students across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, and beyond. My mobile studio setup means I can offer flexible hours to accommodate different time zones. Whether you're in London, New York, Sydney, or anywhere in between, we'll find a time that works. The booking system shows available times in your local timezone automatically.
I'm happy to answer any other questions you have. Just drop me a message.
